David Fromkin's book has been translated into Arabic and Turkish from the original English. It is often recommended reading for journalists on their first assignments in the Middle East. Published in 1989 in hardcover, it had large paperback sales during the Gulf War of '90/'91 and is equally pertinent in today's context. Since that time, David Fromkin has written several books. Two, "In the Time of the Americans" and "The Way of the World" (especially its chapters on the 21st century) explain how America has fallen into the trap of Iraq.
